I'm cranky about this because The Second Renaissance takes a decidedly apologetic note with the machines; and given the largely clumsy symbolism involved that means humans are monsters monsters monsters. Yes; serial killers frequently kill animals before moving on to humans; but a man cornered by executioners of some ilk, does not kill the Serbian paramilitaries and then take the time to gut every chicken and stomp every goldfish in the area. I guess I understand what they are trying to say, but it pisses me off nonetheless because now we're being prompted to feel sympathy towards what had been the ultimate inhuman evil. I don't want drooling Japanese Robosexuality fagging up my kung-fu gayness.
