Plot, while still paper thin, manages to give a "message" about Chinese and Japanese relations and tolerance deeper than most HK faire.



I would say that Fist of Legend is among the best Kung Fu movies of all time, if not the best. I rented the Bruce Lee movie that it was based on (the name escapes me now) and it was horrible in comparison.

I wasn't aware that Fist of Legend directly influenced the Matrix in any meaningful way. I'm still not sure how that could be. Fist of Legend was Jet Lee's tribute to Bruce Lee and his fighting style . . . certainly no one in the Matrix used boxing footwork. Although now that I think about it, the fight between Lee with his father-in-law was kinda simillar to the fight between Neo and Morpheus.
