I've long held this sort of idea in my head - lightly, mind you, the way one holds solipsism - that in reality all this shit that goes on in the world, from needless wars to hundreds of thousands of Timorese children being slaughtered is really all my fault.
See, what if in the future, stuff like this CNN article causes me to hate not only my own self, but in fact everyone else, so much that this - hang on here - time-machine enabled me goes back, and films President Bush while young snorting cocaine, jumps back to the best part of his presidency (now) when he can least afford such videos to be released, and blackmails the fuck out of him?
Multiply this by a billion times. What if, in fact, I'm secretly responsible for nearly every inexplicably shitty thing men have done to each other since the dawn of time - carefully and secretly not only avoiding letting myself know about it, but not even letting, say Dick Cheney know that Bush is getting blackmailed (and judging from Dick Cheny I've blackmailed that fucker almost as many times as I apparently have Rumsfield and Ashcroft). What if the great sucking need of capitalism is really, in fact, all my fault?
Because the more I hear about things like this, the more my already emotionally detached personality just gets further and further twisted, and I'm wondering how long it will be until I'm cheering Ashcroft annihilating freedom - and the only person I can think of who is that completely, truly bent on outright evil is . . . the person I find myself turning into.
Anyways, just a thought.
