For the one or two of you I haven't told already, I'm trying to break into the film biz as a writer of music: composer or orchestrator. My current PC (a Dell) has officially been made obsolete by being under the minimum requirement to run C&C:G. So, I was considering buying a new computer. (Not that I have the money anyways, but hey.)

My boss (a professional composer), and my comp prof (also, professional composer) both use Macs. I am opposed to this, because, really, Macs are gay. Right? The case for: everybody in the film industry seems to be running a Mac, and they all seem to be having less trouble routing MIDI and generally getting their software to do what it says it does than I ever do. The case against: Cool Edit Pro (best. audio. app. ever.) is PC-only, the Aardvark Q10 that I was planning on getting someday is PC-only, and come on. There are no good games for Mac. So, should I bite the bullet and become a granola-eating, tree-hugging Mac user for the sake of getting my MIDI shit together? Or are my advisors stuck in the past?

P.S. In case you are wondering why I don't build my own geek supersystem: cross-compatibility with other users is a huge concern. As is compatibility with a number of apps running in tandem.
