Hawksian dialogue: fast-paced, overlapping, staccato. The epitome of what we might consider "1930s" or "screwball" type dialogue, as in the classic His Girl Friday.
Hawksian woman: says things like this:


Hawksian formula: throw a bunch of people together in what ought to be a high-stress situation, but they're all competent professionals (even the one lady!) so they just end up flirting and razzing each other.

Hawksian wavelength: once you get on it, you never want to leave. Maybe start with Bringing Up Baby (1938) and just go through his whole filmography from there?
