Full legit version of Photoshop, here I come.
Can I ask... WHY? I mean, not that I'm advocating piracy, but unless you're producing work for profit, why spend the cash on that right now?
Anyway, speaking of GeForce, we recently upgraded to the new Quadro 4 900 XGL's at work, and they're pretty impressive. The weird thing is, they promise up to (I think) 16+ lights real-time, but when we first tested them out in Maya, they maxed out at 8. Which is normally fine for playing games, but when you're working on a level and you want to see it with all the dynamic lights on, it's a little disappointing.
Anyway, this ends badly, with me cornering some poor guy from nVidia at Siggraph this summer and asking him WHAT'S THE DEAL, when of course it turns out to be a problem in Maya. Alias never really imagining anyone would be able to (or would want to) display that many lights in real time. Which is kind of short-sighted, and why bother putting any light limitation in there at all?
But anyway, yeah, nVidia = good, which is good news as they're just about the only game in town for games right now. |
