Not trying to downplay the severity of your personal situation, Jerry, but in some respects you're encountering something that, as a man in the world, most if not all of us have to face. (Or reject, and be redpillers and whatnot.) That is, we are frightening to women. I learned this at 19 when I was trying to make it to my pot dealer's house in a hurry, and screeched my car to a halt in front of his place, only to see an old lady panic and book it down the street. I was horrified at how frightened she was of me, but I also got it -- it made a lot of sense. I outweighed her, was young and moving fast, and clearly on a mission of some nefarious kind in this sketch neighborhood. Believe it or not, I started trying to not scare the shit out of women on that day, with mixed success over the years. I still see it as a basic responsibility to keep my side of that street clear, and fairness, reasonableness, etc. don't enter the equation.
I take it for granted that I'm still going to be scary to some women no matter how I present myself, but I still do my best to come correct. It may even come across to others as social anxiety--I've often wondered if I was at the functional end of that spectrum. But SA is not based in reality, and this stuff, more or less, is. Plus I have actual relationships with men and women and am married and shit, so I have objective evidence that I'm not some kind of broken person. And finally, to be honest, I am scared of most men on some level, despite being big and scary looking.
So, in summary, you should give support groups a chance, they worked for me. You don't have a substance abuse problem, do you, by any chance, Jerry? Those groups can be awesome. |
