I do enjoy the open play. I've spent my time bounty hunting in a Viper, and don't get hassled by player pirates much because of that. What are you two doing? Trading? Long hauling privately together? I have a buddy from an old guild I friended here, told me he's far out in some Asp cataloging shit, but we chatted how the cooperative multiplayer isn't fully implemented yet. He'll be back to sell his data by the time the patch hits, so I haven't really even tried grouping up with anybody. I have, however encountered lots of people. Haven't actually killed anyone. Crippled a guy in a conflict zone, fast, so fast I realized he had to be a n00b making a mistake, so decided not to blow him up. I've scared the shit out of people though. I think it's because my rank is competent, everybody I see seems to be harmless and mostly harmless. Most seem to start by going Cobra mkIIIs, trading shit mostly and fighting in missions here and there I guess? So I'll be doing my thing, which is supercrusing through a system, scanning ships. One guy was coming out of a conflict zone. Spotted him, eventually got around to targeting him too, and I'm cruising towards him--another one of these harmless guys in a Cobra, he comes up wanted. Poor bastard just out shooting bad guys in that zone there, and a cop zips past his canopy and makes him wanted, I knew what was up, I just ignore him and continue cruising. My life changed when I took out the cargo bays and filled them with electronics and freed up the power from my cargo hatch. I have to constantly fuss with my components panel because my little ship doesn't have enough power to run all the shit, so I'm in there fucking with the shit, just cruising along towards this guy. He sent me a bunch of comms, and a friend request even. He's shitting his pants, seeing a competent guy in a viper, I'm really just noobing it up with my display panels. I figured I would stop screwing around with reputation and the bulletin board missions, just kill pirates for cash. And what's funny is that doing that made me friendly with the Federation and then one day the Empire was friendly. I've never done one mission for the Empire, never once actually helped them. I thought I was just coming in and claiming bounties, suddenly the whole empire turns green. Now the federation are my allies. They love Bounty Hunters, I guess. I need to check out Lave, hunt around there a bit. I am having a blast. There's the game of learning to fly, then figuring what configuration you like. You can always sell ship components for the same price you paid for them, encouraging you to experiment. I finally made enough to buy whatever I want for my ship, and I can still tweak it. I encountered a particular player named Cmdr Itchynipples. He is a known griefer, and takes people out quickly with missles. I examined his ship and loadout, and since then have been planning how I might configure my ship, go back where he always hangs out, Altair, and take him out. Not that he did anything to me, something I've been scheming. There's another guy like this, a pirate that hangs out around one system in particular. I may go in, wait for him to interdict someone, use my scanner on their wakes.... Here's my ship! I bought the orange skin for pvp, confuse people and make them think I'm a utility vehicle. I'm like one of these fags who just had a kid and has to show you pictures of it, all in love with Elite Dangerous. Look at my spaceship guys! I'm Cmdr Roop btw.
