Quinn's breakup was an ugly situation and all, but the issue of slut shaming is about empowering women to enjoy their sexuality to the same extent as men. It's not about absolving women of responsibility for their sex lives.
I'm not going to say that she was sleeping her way to the top because there isn't enough proof, but "not guilty" is not the same thing as "innocent." You don't think she was smart enough to put two and two together and realize that contacts in the gaming publicity biz could be good for her career?
On a personal level, why is Tiger Woods a piece of shit for breaking his monogamous commitment multiple times, but Zoe Quinn remains pure as the driven snow after breaking hers?
The big problem with the current state of feminism in the popular culture is that it doesn't seem to understand that empowering women and absolving women of responsibility are mutually exclusive goals. With great power comes great responsibility, and with no power comes no responsibility. |
