Don't get me wrong: calling Doom 3 one of the finest first-person shooters of that console generation was somewhere between hyperbole and damning with faint praise. I mean, how many better FPSes can you name on Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, or LOL Dreamcast? I got as far as "TimeSplitters series" and "Halo, I guess, if you're into that sort of thing" before giving up and deciding the passable but reasonably atmospheric Xbox version of Doom 3 had to at least be somewhere in the top five. Riddick was a stealth brawler, Michel Ancel's Peter Jackson's King Kong was an action-adventure, and I don't know what the fuck Killer7 was, but it wasn't a traditional FPS. I guess if you wanted to be a wiseass you could pad your list with GunCon games, though that would really go against the spirit of the challenge.

Ultimately, regardless of what you think about Doom 3, the BFG Edition is still a million times worse.
