If, on the other hand, you're referring to women who have sex with lots of guys, then come up with Clintonesque excuses for why the sex "didn't count," of course they're unstable messes, because they're still invested in the sexual double standard. Have you ever considered what a strange choice of words it is to say that a woman who sleeps around “has no self-respect?” Not, “she doesn’t respect the rules,” not, “she gets no respect from me,” the default plan says, “she doesn’t respect herself.” How can you even know enough about what’s going on in another person’s head to pass judgment on their self-respect? Did Steve Jobs have self-respect? Even his closest friends could at best offer an educated guess. He certainly had reason to, but maybe in his own head he could never get over Bill Gates making more money than him. Or maybe he lived in the shadow of Steve Wozniak’s technical genius. Or maybe his financial success meant nothing to him and he never got over the woman who got away. Men can be mysterious, but under the default plan any woman who sleeps around, regardless of her personal accomplishments, is an open book? What’s really going on here is social control. There’s a Chinese movie from the 90’s called “Farewell my Concubine” following the lives of two actors in the Peking opera from the fall of imperial China through the Cultural Revolution to present day. During their childhood, one of the main characters is a strong willed kid who constantly defies the master of his acting troupe, and the master’s variety of physical punishments, from spankings with the flat of a metal sword to scraping devices to tear up a child’s gums, do nothing to break his spirit. Finally the boy goes beyond the pale when he demolishes part of the set to stop the master from beating his friend. The master responds with his most brutal punishment. He has the boy sit in front of the acting troupe and tells him to demonstrate the punishment he feels is appropriate. With tears streaming down his face the boy begins slapping himself repeatedly, hard. From that point on his defiance ends. Even later as an adult, when he catches his independent nature bubbling to the surface, he gives himself a couple slaps to get himself back in line. Mental self-punishment lies at the heart of “no self-respect.” A woman can be strong enough to stand up to her peers, she can be strong enough to stand up to her mother, but who on Earth, man or woman, is strong enough to stand up to themselves? If you talk to a woman about why she wouldn’t do a sexual act that she desires, but society says deviates from the plan, her answer is usually something like, “I would never be able to live with myself.” Of course bitches be crazy, society makes it so they're not even safe in their own heads! Finally, I'm reminded of my internship in a prosecutor's office when one day the ADA mused, "Why is it when a woman finds out her boyfriend's cheating on her, she breaks a bottle over the other woman's head?" Traditional values "good girls" really don't have respect for men. To them, we're dogs and sex is the leash that controls us. It's other women who aren't following the proper handling procedures who must be dealt with. This doesn't just apply to white trash barflies, Lisa Nowak, a frigging Astronaut went on a cross-country diaper wearing kidnapping plot, not against the man who wronged her, but the other woman. Personally, I'd prefer a "bad girl" who never says shit like, "What Mischief Maker doesn't know won't hurt him!" |
