| I look for decent 4xes and grand strats, so I mostly avoid indie shit. Seen some meme bullshit, yeah. Guess it wasn't as inoffensive as I thought, which begs the question of whether it ever gets managed well. Does it just never go right when people try to use pop culture in games anymore?
I did notice you stuck it to Croixleur, didn't seem relevant to a discussion of western efforts. Maybe if I managed not to put you crazy fuckers on the defensive without writing posts that were too soft for what I've been told is new guard liking, this would come through as my intent. I guess I don't know the safeword here. Maybe there's a way you signal to each other that the oil-slicked Hellenic wrestling match is done for the night. I dunno. I haven't found the bell yet. Anyway, weeb games culture is getting to be a real object of contempt for me by and large so I kinda moved past it but yes, good on you for being a proper Caltrops game reviewer and giving that bitch the black eye she deserved. If it's of any consolation, the aesthetics were the reason I took a chance on Guacamelee in the first place, it's the gameplay that soured me on it and as Fabio pointed out, it's the same awful gameplay decisions that ruined by beloved Devil May Cry franchise. I was honestly pleased to be spared the effort of playing it myself. It had the most chance of any game since Hammerfight of getting me to pick up anything like a brawler in fifteen years. Everything else has been too asian, loud, stupid, and badly designed, too flash over substance except the flash in it's blinding rather than titillating. Do you have anything that plays as well as your favorite of that bunch but looks better than Guacamelee? That'd be a real help. Hell, another one like Hammerfight would be a real help. |
