The Sci Fi Channel (I refuse to call it Sy Fy or whatever) created another series called Warehouse 13 which was kinda sorta similar, but it had a terrible steampunk theme and basically was really shitty.
Warehouse 13 is the Sci Fi channel's plumbing supply and processing equipment storage area. They put all the used toilets there.

The real problem is that good writing is hard to do, and unless you're a high-production writer, you're going to need a large staff plus you need good writers to be able to judge the stuff the other people do and be willing to say that some other writer's material is better than yours. That's why a show runner makes so much money. A good show runner keeps the quality up and prevents the ratings from falling.

A lot of shows go downhill because the primary writer for the show had some good ideas but has lost their 'hunger' to keep doing good work week after week. It can just be too tempting once you've made your first million or two to rest on your laurels, or walk away, or just give up. You gotta love this stuff and want to write because you love writing and love expressing ideas.

You watch people who work in a symphony orchestra. There's no smiling faces, or not much. These people perform because it's their job and they're serious about it. But you get a bunch of guys in a garage band who play gigs, they're doing it because it's fun.

You look at someone like Mick Jagger or the rest of the drugged-out crowd running that group, and you can guess, the Rolling Stones have absolutely no reason to keep on playing, they're all multimillionaires and probably can't spend the money they've already accumulated. But they're still touring and doing concert performances because they love what they're doing and they're having fun at it, Probably a lot of fun.

Which could be why these TV shows become terrible. They're just going through the motions, they're doing it because the network throws too much money at them, and the fun just isn't in it anymore.
