On the Dictionary definition of "insane" by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 12/28/2013, 10:25pm PST

Have you ever considered that insanity means a normal or greater than normal intelligence but either fails to recognize reality or who is acting in a manner conflicting with reality, while a "retard" is someone with extremely low intelligence, generally related to brain damage?
Insanity means one of two things. A claim of a factual basis things which have no basis in objective reality, or the repeating of the same behavior and expecting differing results.
Since neither of these are a correct definition of insanity, you must be, by your own definition (which is not correct), insane.
Nope, if I've said something that is wrong, it could simply mean I have made an error. It does not necessarily make me insane. A guy who reads the traffic signs incorrectly and parks in the wrong place is not insane, he's simply wrong (and gets a parking ticket for his trouble.) Further, I believe they are consistent with each other and I believe they provide a reasonable definition of insane even if it's not exactly matching of some other definitions.

Believing in God or talking to God is not a psychiatric condition because this is a matter of faith (it is not objectively provable as to the existence or non-existence of God), plus, it's so common that you can't assign a class of behavior that is held by about 90% of the public as unusual or representing a psychiatric condition. Believing that God actually responds to you personally when you talk to Her, on the other hand...

Google's definition function defines "insane" as "in a state of mind that prevents normal perception, behavior, or social interaction; seriously mentally ill.". I think my definitions I used earlier are close enough to these to work for the purpose of the discussion on this matter.

Besides, that definition is kind of self-serving or could represent a kind of self-fulfilling prophesy, or something to that effect. Claim someone is insane, then put them in a padded cell in a straight jacket with a Hannibal Lector face mask and you can define them as insane, even if they're perfectly normal because they can't have normal perception, behavior or social interaction while locked in a padded cell, tied in a straight jacket and wearing an anti-bite mask.

Again, what have I said that contradicts reality? What have I said that ignores the world as it is, and substitutes some fantasy or unreal statements of the conditions of existence? Real evidence, actual content and factual proof as to the claims that I am insane. None of you have done that, you just egg each other on to further and further flights of fancy and every single time I ask for factual, objective evidence of your claims I get point blank silence.

"If you can't define it, it's not science, it's bullshitting." If you allow someone's arbitrary, capricious or whimsical notions of what represents insanity or you use something without objective, standardized and clear definitions, well, it ain't hard at that point to define practically anyone as insane or crazy. And that, in and of itself, would be insane. As someone once said (and maybe it was me), "asking the question 'why?' implies rationality, reason, and objectivity. Insanity provides none of these."

Also, they are different. Is your observation of the world not consistent with itself? That should make you very tense.
Not necessarily. Lots of crazy people are otherwise fairly happy. They create this entire fantasy world and then proceed to operate under the misconceptions of that fantasy. As long as nothing comes along to change that they may never have a problem.

As I noted, there are lots of whack-jobs who believe that 9/11 was an inside job of the Bush Administration. David Koresh ran his religious commune in Waco until Janet Reno had the FBI throw tanks with tear gas at his compound. Jimmy Jones ran the People's Temple in Guyana until threats of exposure made him decide he couldn't keep the masquerade and decided that his religious cult should make an early departure to their Heavenly reward with the help of Flavor-Aid and some cyanide. Howard Hughes had the kind of money that he could buy his way to have any form of lifestyle he wanted, and nobody who was part of his inner circle challenged it. Michael Jackson more-or-less lived the last few years of his life as a kind of child, even though I think he was probably close to my age.

Besides, there's an old saying, "A neurotic is a man who builds a castle in the air. A psychotic is the man who lives in it. A psychiatrist is the man who collects the rent."
- Jerome Lawrence

But the fact remains that just because you make the claims I am insane, have Aspergers or autism doesn't make it so. If you've got something to say in the nature of proof and evidence, I'd love to hear it. But I'm not going to accept bare assertions without proof as anything except what you claim I am: the rantings of people who are themselves mad, or as I like to refer to the people here, "cretinous reprobates."

Besides, if I was crazy it might be useful. Being crazy doesn't stop Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh or Keith Olberman from making a lot of money expressing their brand of insanity to their psycho-loving audiences.
