If you want to discuss something where you disagree, consider doing so in civil terms. You might get the other person to concede the point or at least accept that you have valid points to make.
A person who can speak or write in a calm, rational tone, can make a cognizant argument with no rancor, goes a long way toward proving their argument or at least allowing you to respect their opinion even if you disagree with them.
On the other hand, if the only argument the other guy has is obscenities, personal attacks, ad hominem insults, and dripping - or even dry - vitriol, well, they've pretty much admitted that they probably lack intelligence, have no idea what they are talking about, and / or can't even maintain a conversation.
And when you insult the other person you've pretty much admitted that it doesn't matter what they say, you've dismissed them altogether as not worth consideration.
It probably also makes almost everyone else dismiss you and your argument as not worth consideration.
Think about that the next time you want to throw an insult, and maybe think of a way to say something in a better fashion. A little politeness can go a long way.
