While the poor CGI does its best to break the suspension of disbelief, I think the main bitch, the Kate character, really carries the film. The other characters have very little personality, but Kate comes across as really quietly intense, even though you could say she's just following the Ellen Ripley template (strong female lead with flamethrower?).
The film clearly needed a complete rewrite and better casting for the supporting characters, but I still had a good time with it, once things got going after the long, boring opening. It could have been so much better, especially if they'd stuck with the practical effects. |
