I'm glad you remembered that. Before the term 'miscarriage' was invented, the term used for this happening was 'spontaneous abortion.' Now if you said, "I heard she had a spontaneous abortion," someone would probably say, "Oh I'm sure it wasn't spontaneous, I'll bet she considered it beforehand!"
