here's a pic of me winning on the russian internet. 
I'm using the jock geisha from RuPaul's Drag Race season 3 as my userpic. It's sort of my spirit animal, yeah. I have Russian friends but I don't want to bore them with this. They do think the Dima Bilan troll thing is pretty fucking funny though. Here's the Dima song I got caught singing out loud at the gym once. DOUBLE IRONY: the title/chorus starts with "I'm stronger..." I guess if you want a crowning moment of shame, I have been obsessively watching Билет в гарем, a show about a beautiful, chaste, honorable Russian girl kidnapped and sold into the harem of a rich middle eastern prince. It is fucking trash. However if I had to pick a defining feature of Russian TV, it would be the serial costume drama. You thought Dragonball Z was padded and exhausting? "The School For Noble Maidens" is 260 episodes at 44 minutes an episode. These people do not fuck around with their cosplay. It is deathly fucking serious. I don't know how they have the patience for that shit when all the radio songs are absolutely 3:30 or less. |
