I don't know about bombs or llamas but I have dug to the bottom several times, and tried hard to build a small floating platform beneath it. My best idea was to pour water down one of the rare vertical holes, and carefully drift down it just slowly enough that I could clap a block onto some random spot on the world's floor as I fell to my death (with the intention of using said block as an anchor for further construction). But the bottom of the world's floor doesn't seem to support additional blocks. I found an extra-rare 2x1 vertical hole and dumped lava down one side of it to confirm: YOU can go beneath the world, but blocks cannot. Disappointing!

The main (and most fun) thing I did, though, was cave exploration. I had to hunt around for a while, and also google for a helpful wiki, in order to figure out that for now at least, Minecraft is a survival horror game about cave exploration. I mean, that's what it is as a game--I think that at the moment it's stronger as a voxel sculpture engine than as a game, but it was worth my ten euros anyway. It's an awesome project with enormous potential, even if it is painfully unfinished and unbalanced and underdocumented (except by helpful wikis).
