Here is a review a few hours from the end. This game is like a fine drug fueled haze. I guess I'm having fun, but deep down inside I just want it all to end. The following things are different from KoTOR 1:

1) Random item spawns. What does this mean for you? It means that entirely too early in the game you will find the Dakkkkon's Lightning Atonement Armor of the Elder and then only people with ~~magic powers~~ the force will be able to hurt you while you cut them the fuck down with your insanely overpowered lightsaber. I find force powers to be largely useless when you deal the insane amount of damage the game lets you deal. At level 23, I cut down all bosses in two turns and do something like 70 damage three times a turn. I have 34 strength and 28 con with all the boosts. It's just too easy. I haven't died once. That's bad game design.

2) Workbench. Now the repair skill let's you break shit down into universal components and various skills let you build other shit out of 'em. This is ok. I guess I like it.

3) Your party has two, count 'em!, blind female jedi. That's a fucking demographic that isn't explored enough in games, I feel. I'm glad KoTOR 2 is here to cut down (with a lightsaber, HOHO!) my under exposure to these people. Also: 3 robots.

4) The game goes out of its way to remind you that you're playing a game. Many times I hear "Don't you ever wonder why people follow you? Why you influence them so much? It's because you're a gaping wound in the universe! It's because you are an unnatural leader!" Just recently a cut scene implied that I, as the guy who is playing the game, have too much control over people in the game and the Jedi Order needs to kill me. They need to kill me so the game ends. Then the game universe will be restored to its former glory. While it's sitting in my recycling bin. I'll let you work out the implications of this on your own.

5) Nothing else. Same graphics. Same sound, same mechanics. It's long though. I'm 33 hours into it and expect three or four more areas to wipe through.

The end. Play this game if you liked the first one. Then when you're done, you can sigh and wait for something else that won't quite be good on the pc.
