Well I've already sunk 19 hours into this game so starting over isn't an option. Besides things aren't so bad that I'd say it's hopeless. The only battles that really give me problems are those four legged assault droid things, a big problem when there's more than one of them. For some reason I just cannot hit them. Two jedi wailing on one with sabers and the bountry hunter dude unloading with an ion rifle took about two dozen rounds to finally kill one, and that was after I rocked it with four can't miss ion grenades. The bounty hunter is usually a pretty good shot, but out of all those rounds against the assault droid he hit once with his ion rifle.

I'd say the number 1 thing that's hurting me here is not knowing you aren't supposed to level up until you're a jedi. I was already a level 7 soldier by the time I read that here, and thanks to that becoming a level 8 jedi takes 140% the experience it takes Balista to reach level 13. Why fuck over the player for this? What RPG player doesn't level up every chance he gets? Fuck this kind of shit that you have to know ahead of time. If I ever designed an RPG, at around the halfway point there'd be a one time opportunity to liquidate your characters and reassign all their accumulated skill points now that you know what's useful and what's not.


HK does get his "central memory core" repaired during the course of the plot, but all of his interesting and hilarious stories can only be heard by making additional repairs which require an adjusted stat of 17. There are four stories total and with each one he gets a stat upgrade. You have to make them all before the "plot twist" repairs his central core, though. If you do it all I think you get +4 Dex and 2 innate regeneration with him. I forgot the exact breakdown, but I believe it's story 1: 10 repair, story 2: 12 repair, story 3: 14 repair, story 4: 17 repair.


So wait, he gets it repaired anyways during the plot, or that never occurs unless you make all the other repairs yourself first? I hit the first repair with an adjusted score of 8.


So far the game's decent, but I wouldn't say it's the best thing in years like a lot of the praise suggests. I'm guessing most of the positive press was due to 1.) the license, and 2.) console gamers finally getting a taste of what a real RPG was like and finding out it wasn't Final Faggotry. Performance issues aside, I honestly liked Bloodlines more.
