Also after doing that encounter, I think I understand what LK is refering to. by Worm 11/10/2009, 8:20am PST
It was Ser Cauthrien, and it was so bad I'm going to anaylze it picture by picture, later.

I mean a few of the obtusely hard boss fights are fun, especially when it's a mage with low physical resistance and you can just have your dog use Overwhelm and tear his guts out. Though this latest one basically was a a fucking exploitfest on my part to beat it even on easy. So mostly the hard encounters play like puzzles, where you have to use trial and error to determine the best way to go about it. Ergo like the Cat Hair Mustache ... except you can figure it out ... so I guess not.

Now there are genuinely FUN boss fights too. However, most encounters are just uninspired crap with no real optimal tactics other than pull boss, cc adds, los exploit (ie close doors), and dps boss. I'd almost compare it to the final boss in BG2:ToB(where you fight the slayer, right?), but I beat that by modifying my tactics, without exploiting. I guess more apt would be NWN2, which was just a massive 4 phase MMORPG rip off reloadfest.
