I actually like the recent trend towards simplified combat systems based more around timing than combos. Fable 2 and AC both used that direction with some success, and I think it's been much more of a net positive than, say, randomized QTE's or any of the other exciting innovations in the third person genre. If it can't be Godhand, I'd rather it be simple and viscerally enjoyable.
But then, this is the year when my PS3 finally became worth owning thanks to the first rpg (possibly ever) that surpasses most action games in the quality of its combat, Demon's Souls, so anything's possible. |
