While ICJ may hate the Incredibles for raising the bar, I love it.

Hey, that's not why I hate it.

I'd feel bad for the makers of the FF movie -- their protagonists' powers would have been easier to do in animated form but someone beat them to it -- but it was going to be shit from the start in no matter what form and everyone knew it. I do love how Marvel Comics will stop City of Heroes from allowing you to create a blonde slut in her underwear as your avatar because that is infringing upon the magic of Emma Frost, White Queen, but be perfectly OK and have litigation be the furthest thing from their mind when it comes to another movie out there that cribbed from them so badly that it forced them to drop another $20 million on their own upcoming feature film.

ICJ: Marvel's Greatest Sycophant. Unless you meant that the FF movie "was going to be shit from the start".

You've never convincingly argued why exactly "The Incredibles" turned the masterpiece that is "The Fantastic Four" into complete shit -- from where I stand, it was an entertaining, clever homage to superheros, if not "Watchmen"-clever. Of course, I don't think that was even Pixar's intent. Were you expecting Pixar, which has been a family-friendly, but better than average fare film studio to suddenly take a completely different tack? I'm just going to assume that there's some crazy, inchoate rage that "The Incredibles" generates in you that you can't explain, except to fall back on the "they stole from Marvel!" complaint.

Secondly, Marvel wouldn't have a leg to stand on if they tried to sue and would look like a bunch of jackasses -- apparently you've never heard of a thing called "influences"? It'd probably be fine even as a work of parody. It's not like anyone went to "The Incredibles" and accidentally confused it with "The Fantastic Four" movie. Or have Marvel been missing a windfall by not suing the producers of "Underworld", which does not star Wesley Snipes, to his detriment (HE'S GOT BILLS TO PAY).
