Just spit it out. What is it that you think is a "joke"? Here's an example of what I'm thinking: there is a clear difference between the quality of the fake advertisements/commercial environment in say, Dead Space, where they clash with the theme and seem ripped off from Fallout, and the advertisements in Bioshock which are reminiscent of Fallout but comparatively successful and theme appropriate. In either one, they are a minor detail and far from the core conceit.
On the other hand, I can see the "post apocalyptic" connection you might draw between Fallout and Bioshock. But I don't see how it's a joke in either game or something primarily consisting of irony. Or, for that matter, a failure. Bioshock has problems, sure, but not any you've successfully identified. You're getting your ass kicked by quests I solved almost accidentally while enjoying the strengths of the game, mostly based around using an interesting tool set and environment to fuck with a shooting gallery of enemies. |
