Borrowed this along with Crimson Skies for the Xbox. Crimson Skies is the easier and funner game for sure.
When I heard that you have to become good at the game before being able to progress, I didn't think I would have to go read some "combat guide" on GameFAQs to figure out that the big mystical ninja secret to becoming a better fighter is to just hold down block all the time when in a battle, and then at a certain time, let go of block and try to attack. Every enemy in the game does damage worth of an "extreme" difficulty setting, as if punishing you for ever getting into a fight (much like MGS 1 or 2 or 3). There are no (lame) stealth conventions plugged into this game, which is almost good, but if they were there I'd try to use them as much as I could. But knowing "these people" they would try to make it so that stealth would be punishingly boring, almost impossible, and the only real way to get through levels. Instead, the combat does that by itself.
Anyway, after a while of playing with the "constantly block and then try to start up a combo SOMEHOW" technique, I started getting more into the game. I continue to tread water with healing items. Whenever I buy more healing items, I use them. If I have no healing items, I try to power through the areas of the game and pick up healing souls I MEAN "ESSENCES." So I end up getting further by a lot of dying by not having any healing items. Having 3 normal potions and even 3 full potions just delays a battle that WOULD have killed you until you beat it. So you can use your full inventory of items to clear one single battle, and that's all they would've bought you, one battle.
All they needed to do was set the damage down by at least 1/4th for normal difficulty. |
