It was in response to someone asking if the game was dumbed down. by Worm 09/13/2008, 8:38am PDT
I really think the dumbing down hurt the game. They cut out the underwater segment(oh my cell is growing legs and swimming toward land, how great). The civilization segment completely breaks off from what made the other customizations fun, dumping guns on your vehicles raises the attack, and other parts raise the speed or armor, and all those numbers need to add up to 100, so all the vehicles fire the same style of projectile and are essentially the same.

Worse is that in the creature phase it isn't enough to get points to spend on your creature, but you need to hunt them down while playing, so if you're going through the game segment to segment you're probably not going to have access to all the parts at the point in the game where your creature's appearance is locked in. Compared to what an ass pain micromanagement exercise The Sims was I'm surprising they weren't will to give people a little more to do.
