Comic writer Warren Ellis wrote "groundwork, backstory and structure" for the game, so we can marvel at the universe we're playing in while rolling eyes and desperately jamming x for all the dialouge. Planetary and Thunderbolts are awesome so i'll just assume the transition is seamless and this game will be perfect.
