I've got to go with the NFC South as the second worst. I've never seen a team with "early first round exit" written over them like the Atlanta Falcons. What am I saying? They will have a terrific home field advantage; I forgot what fanbase I was talking about here. The Panthers remind me of the Spurs when they got Duncan. If they go 6-10 and nail their draft and get their guys back healthy next year (who loses two AAA running backs to IR like they did this year?) they will win the Super Bowl next year. I do wonder if Jon Gruden has asked his staff to start evaulating Notre Dame's incoming class yet or if he's pretty much doing it himself at the office because he's such a control freak.
ICJ I agree, on reflection. I was looking at divisons based on awfulness of the bad teams, but I kind of overlooked the effect of having good teams. The play of both today notwithstanding, the NFC North does have the Packers and Vikings, both playoff-caliber teams (this season, in the NFC, anyway). So they bring up the average (it remains to be seen if Chad Hutchinson is the Real Deal).
In other news: if Marc Bulger is out for the season and Chandler is in, and if Navarre continues to QB for the Cards, and the Seahawks drop tomorrow night's game to Dallas (well, even if they don't), their title as Worst Division in Football is secured. |
