My experience on this sort of thing is mostly cleaning up completely fucked computers of coworkers as a result of trusting Norton or some other bullshit preinstalled antivirus. I see that my favorite paid AV now has a free online scan option, although I haven't had the opportunity to try it myself (note that NOD32 has effectively made spyware programs pretty much irrelevant on my computer as well as being my primary AV).
Anyway, if the only program giving you shit about it is Norton I'd say forget about it, and make sure you never let that broken scanner near your system again. I imagine the free thing you have is easier to remove than the full version, but I have been known to opt for simply wiping a system rather than having to deal with all of the song and dance programs like that (Wild Tangent games spring to mind as well) requires to get rid of 100%. |
