I can't give you an A/B comparison, but it is easily the best MMO I've played (comparing Anarchy Online, DAoC, Eve Online, Horizons, and CoH here), and the quest system is really the centerpiece. The quests are unending and they guide you along where to go next while providing you with gobs of items, money, and xp. The only time I've killed shit that wasn't quest related was when I was farming linen for bag trades, or the couple times I had like a half a bar left to the next level when I was near town.

EQ2 has more of everything, sometimes even more and better. On high end equipment it's graphically stunning, the quest system is fucking intense the UI rocks. They toss all kinds of value added web based shit as well (player stats are automatically sent to a unique page all account owners get, which can be marginally tweaked with screen grabs and shit, you can manage guild shit and whatever without logging in and so on.) Still it's not half as fun as WoW. I'm not sure if it's because it's less Hardcore or not, nor do I care. It's simply the most fun I've had with an MMO.

MMO's blow, they become bowling league like in hurry and all fun is sucked out of them at the point you either realize the devs are incompetent or your playing a game that is more vocation than recreation. WoW seems to have found the magic formula around that. It never stops being fun and I've yet (like every other piece of shit MMO I've played demands of you) to come close to spend any real time grinding. The whole thing is polished. The art is less cartoonish than it is stylized and makes for fast frames with superbly done animations and visuals. The girlfriend has yet to call me a homo for playing. So far, so very fucking good.

They also timed the release correctly. I blew off all the fags I was playing EQ2 with for HL2, by the time i finished HL2 almost twice WoW was released. Email to EQ2 fags: Sell my shit, I'm not coming back.
