Narcolepsy is possibly the most approachable test game in recent memory. Here's why:
1) It is almost completely free of stupid, made-up puzzles.
2) It responds to many reasonable actions.
3) It has a pleasant, reassuring, colorful display.
4) It branches based on decisions you make that split you off into different parts of the story, so you are not shoehorned into the author's idea of what actions you must take.

Did I want to initially hit the protagonist in the face? Sure. But he (Eugene Oregon) grew on me.
I think this game shows how far text games have come since the annoying aspects of the Infocom era. I'll try posting one, once a week, for a couple months for the hell of it. Enjoy!
