The self-important arrogance of these two losers is consistently the most entertaining part of their otherwise embarrassing site. They are a mirror image of the ESPN.com writer Bill Simmons. All three of them had a shtick that would induce a half-smile every now and then, but they all somehow took that as license to write as smug, infallible douche bags. The only real value any of them provides is in laughing along with the people that make fun of them. I doubt it's a coincidence that none of them exist in the real world, and that in their minds the worth of their critics is based strictly on Alexa ranking.

The more disgusting-looking, less loquacious one wrote:

I guess some guy at IGN is mad at me and he lays into me on their podcast.

I love how "Gabe" pretends that he has no idea what the guy's name is. The reality is, he listened to this podcast multiple times and then went out to dig up as much dirt as he could on him. All for the crime of disagreeing with whatever stupid point he was making, which was "games are more fun when not played under a deadline." (A profound point well worth white-knighting.) In an attempt to seem like being called out as a pretentious loser doesn't bother him, he's going to overplay it by not mentioning anyone by name.

You can follow the link and listen for yourself but I don't recommend it, they don't really deserve the traffic spike.

When your entire existence is made possible by a bunch of teenagers clicking on your comic strip, and then a "news" post over-explaining the comic strip, it's natural to think of clicks as a form of currency, since, in this guy's life, they pretty much are.

Basically some IGN guy

Man, what could his name be? Gabe totally doesn't know! He's just some IGN slob.

is super pissed because I said I didn't agree with the bad reviews of Assassins Creed.

This guy and his roommate absolutely freaked the fuck out when the editor of PC Gamer said their comic was shit the same month their amazingly revolutionary game made the cover. There isn't any chance he'd have categorized himself as "super-pissed," of course, he's the calm, cool rational one here.

I'm actually of the opinion that if we're pissing off IGN we must be doing something right.

It's pretty weak for the target of mockery to assume that they've really gotten under the skin of the person ripping on them. People try that shit on BDR all the time and it's just dumb.

Honestly my main concern was to make sure people didn't avoid the game based on some of the poor reviews. I got something like four hundred mails after that post and 90% of them looked like this:

I think "easily led and influenced" would be a prime characteristic of people writing a web comic team, looking for a pat on the head, after spending 10 hours playing some dumb game that would be completely forgotten in six months if a girl didn't produce it.

The IGN thing is just sort of silly. He says I should leave reviewers alone because I "just do things and write things as a freaking comic artist." I'm not sure how to respond to that. I think he's trying to insult me but everything he said there is true.

Well, IGN probably has guidelines in place that prevented the guy from stating that the opinion of a wretched, screechy, easily-agitated eyesore of an agoraphobe is utterly without worth, because doing so would be considered some kind of personal attack and therefore actionable.

The sad thing is I wasn't even talking about their review. I was talking about the 7.0 from 1Up. No one actually pays any attention to IGN or their 7-10 review scale. To tell you the truth I still don't even know what IGN's review of AC was. Was it bad? It's really kind of cute that he thinks I was talking about him. After hearing how worked up he got on the podcast I actually feel kind of bad ruining it. It must have been a real thrill for him to believe he was relevant.

All criticism is autobiographical in nature, and that really comes through here. There's nothing the art guy for that shitty webcomic fears more than not being "relevant." "I actually feel kind of bad ruining it"? What is he, four fucking years old? It might seem like some kind of dream to not commute and go to an office each day, but for fuck's sake, it keeps you grounded and mature. This guy's a goddamn baby that's lashing out in some misguided attempt to prove to the world that he only lets "good" games advertise on his site, as if there is a single human in the world that gives a shit.
