I thought the control mapping was broken, but in fact you start a keyboard game by using the keyboard to select "new game" and you select a gamepad game by using the gamepad button to start. After another successful interaction with Steam, I am ready to put HL2 first-day troubles behind me. We can be friends again. My high score, so far, is 49,400. One thing that always drives me crazy is when the programmer's initials occupy the top spot in an arcade game. I won't rest until I get 100,001. That being said, the highest score I am ever likely to get, because of my own low skill, is 100,001.
