In the Jesus Camp documentary (parenthetical review: Decent, not mind blowing. Highlights include Ted Haggard preaching against homos pre-disgrace, and the evangelicals blessing the Powerpoint and sound equipment) there is a scene where a rat-tailed kid is being homeschooled, from a book titled "Exploring Creationism with Physical Science". Here is that scene, courtesy of MY god, YouTube:

I was pretty shocked when global warming was brought up at all. I know the scene at 2:20 shows us that they have a George W. photo stuck on their wall and everything, but she seems to be reading that global warming debunk out of that text book, which implies that this is a Christian issue, and not a capitalist/lobbyist issue, as I had always thought.
But anyway, the rat-tail kid thinks it won't hurt us.
My very earnest question is this: what is the Christian angle to global warming? My Google searches find many Christian sites debunking the global warming, but none explain why they give a shit. Some non-Christian articles seem just as confused as me, and offer that perhaps global warming means the glorious end-times are near, thus the fundamentalists welcome the return of the lord. That answer seems too easy, as it makes Christians flat out liars instead of just delusional, knowing that global warming will be the end of us, but happy to invite it.
Caltrops, I turn to you. |
