Hi everybody
Patch Adams is a person who polarises - indeed.
But if you can say something is, that he is unique, he is real and he lives what he is talking about.
Show me
Well, how can someone say, he hates Patch?
I had the positive experience to get to know Patch personally.
And there is only one message to post:
"Open your heart and you will understand"
When your heart is not open to new ways of unerstanding, looking at a situation, a tradition, a profession, then you wont see the mistakes, the problems and you will never see the chances. It is a matter of your inner readyness to watch things differently - which is, as a matter of fact, one of the most important things for a medical doctor.
The way of patch is maybe not your way. Shouldn't be, of course. Patch teaches us how to solve mental problems in another way or shows at least that there are other ways that could be used to treat patients too. And this is extremely important in a time, where about 70-80 % of illness has a psychosomatic background.
Even the romans about 2000 years ago said - mens sana in corpore sano - which shows us the direct connection between body and spirit or psyche.
Even the Chinese saw the close connection between illness and mental status. More than 80% of Acupuncture points do have a direct impact on the human psyche. Even treating inner organs by herbal medicine has a direct impact on psychic or mental status.
... So maybe Patch can't be so wrong...
