Dungeon Siege isn't without merit, it's just that it can't take over the throne yet. If you wanna talk about gameplay mistakes, there are all the things said before which are true -- linearity, hands-off action and horrible cumbersome spell system that has you scrolling menus in battle. My biggest beef was that I would level up those motherfuckers in my party and get somewhat invested in their progress, only to meet some NPC along the way who was better than my best guy. Ok, join the party, and take all of my best fighter's gear. This happens until you have no original members AND it happens so much that I stopped caring about leveling up most of my dudes as I know they'd be replaced later anyway. So the map is on rails, the story on rails and even the characters that make up your party are on rails. |
