The racism in the Elder Scrolls games is really top notch. I suspect that they have a guy on the Bethesda team whose title is Bigotry Imagineer, and all I can say that this man deserves a raise for a job well done. I think my character in particular got called "nefarious slit!!" or something like that. She was a woman and an elf, and I'm willing to wager that there was a special routine written to determine if in-game misogynism trumped more general pointy-eared hatred or not. When the devs for these games are on, they're on.

Maybe there is some race you can be in one of these games where your very existence is not a galactic joke to everyone you encounter and not cause for them to endlessly scream epithets at you, but I haven't found it yet. Not in Daggerfall and not in this one. (Then again, I've never tried one of the furry races, but I do not wish even the possibility that I live in a world where those races are the ones which do not bring forth harsh comments and jeers from the townsfolk.) If Caltrops had done end-of-year awards last year, Morrowind would have received my nod for outstanding special achievements in the field of race baiting.
