Hence the whole (too obvious) reason it is distasteful to see even bottom-feeders like Robertson claim that there is somehow an ethical rather than a monetary difference for them in Liberia vs Iraq (which he supported for no particular reason, it seems, since the admittedly valid objection he claims to have to Liberian intervention applies a thousandfold over to Iraq).

Disclosure of Personal Vendetta:
I now recall why I hate Pat to the core of my soul. While attending a conference a while back as a result of an internship, we were promised food after the presentations by host of personalities across the (right wing/libertarian) spectrum. So, I stroll up to the Mexican food buffet in another room, only to hear the double doors close and the dread hum of Another Presentation About To Begin.

It turns out I had been shanghaied into attending a 45 minute presentation for the Pat Robertson School of Government, a school whose academic mission could best be summed as the usual evangelist tripe about Jesus this, Jesus that. Seeing the looks of glazed interest all about me, and the sincere zealotry of the presenters, gave me one of those uncomfortable moments where I realize I have nothing in common but an enemy with these people, and that might not be enough of a reason to even be polite to them.

Plus the crappy Mexican food gave me the runs.

Sum Total: I had no respect for Pat, televangelist, before. But Pat, Televangelist and promoter of the Missionary style of Government, is scary as well as pathetic.
