Data loss and corruption are possible. If the re-partitioning fails mid-session you will probably have to reformat. Converting the drive might have similar results if the process gets horked by some windows gayness. Mind you this *can* happen but usually both processes routinely go just fine, just best to plan for worst case so you aren't fucked if it happens. Backing data up is wise but it seems like you have an entire mirrored drive which is optimal, so you're in great shape.
