If you're talking about compressors and limiters, there just aren't any plugins (DX, VST, TDM, RAS, whatever) that effectively emulate a good outboard analog compressor, handy as plugins are. So they're noisier - big fucking deal. Maybe that's makes them sound better. As long as we're talking about White Stripes, their albums are hissy as shit, but I like it.

Are you saying you think that "digital remasters" sound better than the original single mixes? They almost never do.


Nothing that specific. Missed the context (White Stripes). So thought you were arguing analog mastering is better than digital in the general case (it isn't). It may be more cumbersome. But what works for Mötorhead doesn't necessarily work for Vivaldi.
