2. I keep hearing you can shoot through walls/floors. I can’t seem to fire a weapon without picking out a selectable target. I can target doors windows with grenades (cool), but can’t just toss them wherever I want (like next to a wall.) Same with guns. Is there a way to fire at non-targets?
2. It's tricky and I've never done it too much, but if you press 'A' and then keep clicking on a spot, your character will shoot there. If you spot an enemy, but don't see him (you see the red holographic image of him), you can shoot at that too.
I don't think it buys you much with the girly weapons you have at the game's start: wait until you start wielding the mighty MG-42 and other associated hardware.
I enjoyed the game as is, Fabio doesn't like it because the bug is much more noticable on "Hard", which is what he started with (I played on Medium, because Hard also limits your saves to only before/after missions).
However, the Sentinels demo is out, and it (a) demonstrates the auto-salvage feature (you can select anything you've seen on the battlefield at mission end) (b) it has MUCH better AI (c) I think the skills bug is gone. Although why, since the engine seems mostly the same, they haven't released it to those of us who have supported their game enough to actually produce this expansion pack, I can't imagine.
I was gonna post a screenshot of the salvage thing, but I played the demo on Hard to see if Fabio's complaints were still valid (I don't think so), so I don't have any saves at appropriate spots.
The demo also lacks the faggy first-mission-from-the-Allies-side problem.
Bitter.
was trying to make it semi-realistic by setting it to "increased head wound damage" made it so you had a 100% chance of being blinded if a shot so much as grazed your 10 foot radius of personal space.
Strike 2 was standing in front of a window with plenty of reserve action points, watching over the room inside. German casually walks into view, spots my soldier just standing there not doing anything, and mows him down. Threw FOUR grenades into the (small) room, tried rushing it, and had another man mowed down because grenades blow and the German didn't have a scratch on him.
Strike 3 was me figuring that maybe I fucked up choosing hard, restarting on medium, then realizing I had to play the first allied mission over again.
or maybe strike 3 was me realizing that I had about 4 other better games waiting to be played. |
