But as with any hobby, money starts looking for somewhere to go, and thus my eyes fell upon the Chase Bliss Generation Loss Mkii pedal, which seemed purpose-built for my Haunted Lakes project:

...and there the collection starts growing. My favorite pedal companies at the moment are Chase Bliss and Kinotone, which both make extremely deep, boutique-y pedals, are both based in the city of Minneapolis, and which both seem to have realized that you can sell what is essentially a synth fx module for $400 in huge numbers if you just enclose it in a guitar pedal because guitar dads outnumber synth dads by thousands-to-one (and also they already spend huge money on guitars and amps so maybe the pedals don't seem as expensive?).

I held strong as long as I could, but I ordered a Generation Loss MK2 off reverb.com. It is supposed to show up tomorrow. Our mailbox is half a mile from our home. Eurorack (and now pedals) is/are keeping me in physical shape by having me walk out there multiple times a week.

There is also a non-pedal FX module that I wanted to try, so I bought the Happy Nerding FX Aid over at Analogue Haven. I am a nerd, who will be happy. It looks like you pick what effects you want to load the FX Aid with through a webapp, and then you somehow get that information to the FX Aid ->

Customize the Happy Nerding FX AID (4HP, XL, or Pro) by selecting up to 32 algorithms via the fxa.app web editor. Choose from reverbs, delays, modulation, and distortions, then drag-and-drop to order them. The app generates a WAV file; play this audio into the module's CV input to update the firmware.

God, I expect thirty anthropomorphic toilets to surround my property when I start to do that, all engaged in "swirlie the dork" mode.

But I think that is the missing piece, I have a few modules that can drive sound, but none of them really create something pleasing without further processing. Which is fine! I don't mind doing that, but it will be nice to have it on the rack.

This is the sort of thing I have been up to, myself, with my nephew on robot voices to open and close.
