[quote name="FABIO]I rented it a few days ago and was going to post a mini review but looks like you beat me to it. For some accurate reviews look at gamefaqs.com and read all the reviews that give this game a 5-7, they all seem pretty dead on.

God for a look at how low the depths of fanboydom can dip, take a look at the DMC2 message board on gamefaqs. "WTF DMC2 ROCKED! TEH STORY WAS GREAT! FFVII'S STORY WUZ DUM BUT DMC2'S ROCKED!"

Actually, I've found that for good, non-whoring reviews gamefaqs can be a pretty good resource. You just have to learn to spot and ignore the obvious fanboy reviews that either give every game a 10 out of 10 or a 2 out of 10 because of one negligable flaw. If a game has a good amount of user reviews that are all positive then chances are good that the game is excellent. If not then take a look at the reviews that give a lower than average score, if the author seems semi-intelligent and makes some well argued points then you can probably consider his opinion accurate.

I made the decision to purchase Fatal Frame this way. The box art and fact that I'm a sucker for horror games caught my eye but I hesitated on buying it because I had never heard a thing on it before (did that game get ANY publicity?) until I read the reviews at gamefaqs. The only negative ones complained how the game didn't have rocket launchers and machine guns like resident evil so immediately I knew that everyone who hated the game was a moron, hence the game would rock, and it does.
