BackWeb: WTF? by Zseni 02/02/2003, 3:51pm PST
This morning I found a program called "BackWeb" on my comp while sorting through whatever the fuck was eating 100% of the CPU time; apparently it's sko semi-adware that I installed unwittingly while updating my Western Digital hard drive tools - this from a direct download from the WD site, no less. A cursory google search talks about popups, but I didn't get any of those in places I didn't normally get popups.

So what is it, and is it bad news that I summarily deleted it from my drive? When rebooting I got a little "hey where's BackWeb" ok/cancel box, but otherwise nothing seems to be working differently.
