To, you know, actually joining an online server?

I'm on a pretty damn fast ethernet connection, and yet for the life of me I simply cannot join any online hosted games. It's the same "failed to connect" deal everytime. To make it worse every time I get a failed connection for some reason the game quits back out to desktop for a second then goes back to the main "loading" screen before returning to the server list screen and then taking MORE time to refresh the server list; in all it takes about 40 seconds for each try and that gets old FAST. After 30+ failed attempts I just gave up and went back to single player bot matches while praying that the AI won't get old.

Dumb question: do you have the latest patch(1.2)? Seems like it should give you a compatibility error msg if this was the case, but who knows. Also, if you're behind a firewall, it could be a problem. You might have to open up port: 14567. As far as the quitting back to desktop, I havent had that problem. I usually join through GameSpy Arcade(I know it's gay), and if for whatever reason it wont join the server, it quits me back to the in-game server browser. Sometimes the server you just refreshed will go offline by the time you try to join if it's on a local machine, try the EA servers, and then only try the ones with people already in. Works for me.
