Is that the multiplayer Q3 ripoff of Shitty Action Half-Life? Then no, that's no good.

AHL would require about 10 reviews to capture all the suck that TEAM AKIMBO!!! managed to lazily and sloppily cram into that mod.

Indeed. My brother and I wrote a review for AHL (about the time when we wrote the Chemical Existence review), and we attempted to be partial. But still what we went on about mostly was the extreme bitchiness about the coders being in denial about their mods problems, and how they could've done this and this and this shit while they were fixing the mod. We tried to be fair, but we probably shouldn't have even done that. Maybe we could rewrite the review, and be totally unfair, since that's what AHL really deserves.

Back when one of the early and horrible betas came out, oddjob (I think), one of the team members, used to play on public servers. He would begin to hyper-ventilate if anyone spoke poorly of the mod and attempt to hunt them down. Even if it was "I fell about 3 feet but I lost 80% of my health... will you guys fix that bug?" "Realism!" he would screech in reply, before killing them with his sniper rifle.

Same thing happened to us. Some guy with the name of "oddjob" was in an AHL server with us, we mentioned how the handcannon was not a good weapon at all since it had only two impact points and the spread was too big, so the only people who would be able to use it would be people with a ping of 10 and 180 frames per second. He was so furious he couldn't even function as a normal rational human being anymore, and screamed about how it was all about style. Well that's strange since I don't really get any extra points for making stylish kills. The Opera Half-Life mod had that, AHL doesn't. So it's like, the whole "style" party line seems to be, I dunno, a giant fucking gay lie?

Later they made the default name for players oddjob, and it became impossible to tell the original from the legions of semi-retarded fanboys who couldn't manage to change their nick. Programming is hard, etc. but if you listened to TEAM AKIMBO!!!!!! any problem was valve's fault; "They released a patch that totally fucked over AHL! can't they program????" and so on. They also started an action unreal tournament much to everyone's confusion, but they seemingly gave up about 2 years ago. The best part is that, from what I recall, basically none of the ActionQ2 guys are part of the current team, there is just a sad pack of imposters that seemingly failed to understand the charm of the original.

The guys from the original Action Quake 2 mod actually went on to extremely successful mods. Or at least one guy did: the guy who made the models for AQ2 went on to make the models for Counter-Strike with a pal, and guess what. That's the most successful mod in game history, and Action Half-Life is fucking nowhere.
