He just doesn't see the appeal of alcohol. He'd rather go for a ride on his bicycle. How the fuck did Chris Avellone put up with this jerk?! I only know like three things about Chris Avellone: he wrote New Reno and Planescape Torment, he raped a dozen ladies, and he hasn't been sober since he was nine years old. Honestly, Fallout bible aside, Chris seems like a pretty cool guy.
