Okay, I hear this a lot, and while I would readily agree that the sequels don't reach the INSANELY lofty heights of greatness of the original, I still enjoyed them well enough.
Are my literary standards faggified beyond repair, or are a lot of people just doing the whole hyperbole thing because the first novel is damn near perfect, while the sequels aren't? I honestly thought they were, you know, pretty good.
I honestly don't remember the title of the fourth book. I just remember trying so hard to finish the series, but ending up skimming the last one (which I also remember is extremely long). I think the whole Dune mythos gets much more interesting in the sequels, and that kid's transformation in Children of Dune really seemed cool when I read them. I guess it's one of those things I'll have to re-read to get a less retarded perspective on. At that point in my life, I was also fairly interested in the behind the scenes, cloak-and-dagger political intrigue that there's more of in the sequels.
As for the novels after Children of Dune, I have one thing to say: they involve clones. |
