I read the Foundation trilogy when I was about 11 or 12, and really don't remember much of it except that I liked it then. Who knows what I'd think about it now, but I'm sure if you like sf you'd probably dig it.

Actually the one Asimov that's stayed with me is Caves of Steel, which has that great moment where the protagonist isn't eating his chicken on a cracker and he's talking to some other guy and the other guy isn't tracking because he's too busy eyeing the chicken on a cracker. That's just a great scene.

I actually wrote Asimov a letter when I was 11 or 12 about an essay he'd written on LOTR. He saw the whole trilogy as some kind of gay "WW2/technology is evil" allegory, and I told him that if he'd actually bothered to read the fucking prologue to the book he'd have found out he was full of shit. He sent back a postcard calling me a snot, which I stupidly gave away to some girl years later.
